Medical oncologists coordinate the multidisciplinary care of cancer patients including diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, supportive care and palliative care.

Medical oncologists are specially trained to treat cancer with systemic drugs (also known as "chemotherapy") that can destroy cancer cells. These drugs often are called "anticancer" drugs. Many of these drugs are administered through intravenous infusion.
At the David C. Pratt Cancer Center, we are proud to have physicians on staff who specialize in medical oncology.
