The Breast Health Nurse Navigator is an important member of our multidisciplinary team of experts in radiology, medical and radiation oncology, and surgery, who provides guidance, education and support through the Breast Center and the David C. Pratt Cancer Center at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.

She is a registered nurse with expertise in breast cancer detection and care. The Breast Health Nurse Navigator is available to all breast care patients and serves as a coordinator throughout every step of detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.

She is a resource to guide you, offer support, provide answers, listen and care.

How the Navigator Helps You

The Breast Health Nurse Navigator guides and assists you through detection and diagnosis of breast cancer at St. John's Mercy. She helps in many ways:

  • Serves as an educator, advocate and guide
  • Provides emotional support for you and your family
  • Explains options and answers questions to help you make informed decisions
  • Coordinates appointments at The Breast Center or with physician specialists, if desired
  • Acts as a liaison for specialists and resources within the David C. Pratt Cancer Center
  • Clarifies medical terminology
  • Provides educational materials
  • Assists with health insurance questions
  • Advocates for underinsured and uninsured women for financial aid.

Our personal approach provides you with integrated and compassionate care, including your individual treatment plan developed by our multi-disciplinary team. You receive all of the testing, services and treatments you need at St. John's Mercy, including:

  • Digital mammogram, breast MRI and breast ultrasound
  • Stereotactic biopsy
  • Lumpectomy, mastectomy and reconstructive plastic surgery
  • Chemotherapy, radiation, integrative therapies and support services

The Breast Health Nurse Navigator assists with the integration of services available to you at St. John's Mercy, helping you through each step of detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
